MongoDB Replica Sets and Sharding Release Candidate 1
The upcoming MongoDB production ready version, 1.6, is getting closer, the first release candidate being ☞ announced last week.
The new version of MongoDB will bring two new notable features: replica sets and MongoDB sharding support. MongoDB replica sets represents an improvement over the current MongoDB solution for replication that promises automatic failover and automatic recovery. You can read more about MongoDB replica sets on the ☞ official documentation.
We have covered before the topic of MongoDB sharding and you’ll get a good overview from MongoDB sharding explained article.
Note: In preparing for a more detailed coverage of these new features of the upcoming MongoDB, I’m currently gathering more materials about replica sets and sharding, so if you have some good references please do share them with me.
