For me, it’s about elegance, simplicity, and efficiency. I’d rather have a clean, beautiful interface than one that’s cluttered. If a company can cram in features without making the design confusing and belabored, great—but if not, I’d rather have a shorter list of features that work exceptionally well.

That’s the reason I’ve emphasized Michele Chamber’s Big Data prediction for 2014. David Pogue is referring to consumer products. Developers, operations, analysts are consumers of the technology. They look at tools and frameworks the same way.
