The three main reasons why ActiveSphere folks have been using CouchDB:

I’m trying to list out in hindsight why CouchDb has worked out a good choice for us.

  1. Powerful Replication
  2. Fast View Queries
  3. HTTP access to the views

My reformulation:

  1. Unique P2P replication.

    But CouchDB replication and elastic scaling are two different things. BigCouch is still the only complete solution for scaling out CouchDB.

  2. Read-optimized queries

  3. Friendly access protocols
